Empty Head
Chill out DJ Rob Da Bank is the brains behind Sunday Best and it’s not hard to imagine Empty Head fitting into his laid back approach to life. The work of Alan James and Michael Kirkman, this album takes its influence from Detroit electro and techno, distilling the music’s essence into glorious, hushed reveries.
‘Boxed In’ boasts whispered vocals over dreamy chords, there’s spine-tingling acidic twinges on ‘Missing Link’, the title track finally shifts into dance floor mode midway through, as a bass ripples through the warm keys and fittingly, the blissed-out, ‘Sueno Latino’-inspired finale, ‘Journey’, ends this trip on Ibiza’s shore as sunset begins.
