Emma Langford announces live shows across June
The Limerick native is set to take on numerous venues across Munster
Folk artist Emma Langford has announced a series of dates across June.
She will take to the stage in Dolans Warehouse, Limerick City, on June 11; Greyhound Bar, Kilkee, Co. Clare, on June 18 and Lansdowne Hotel, Kenmare, Co. Kerry, on June 19.
This tour comes on the tenth anniversary of her debut, self-titled EP, which included her hit song, 'Tug O’War'.
Emma was acclaimed with an RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Award in 2018 and was long-listed for the Grammy Awards in 2021. She has also received various funding awards and residencies, a Businesswoman of the Year award, and released two independent studio albums, Quiet Giant and Sowing Acorns.
Both albums to date have been produced and mixed by the Grammy-nominated duo of Chris O’Brien and Graham Murphy at The Production Suite, Dublin.
She is planning on adding to this catalogue after stating her intention to record a new album this year.
"I’m planning on recording a new album this year. Last year was a bit of a hibernation/germination period for me – maybe I felt a bit burnt by this industry’s brokenness, and maybe I burnt myself out a bit. I feel more ready to put up little green musical shoots now though,", she wrote on social media.
Her performances and songwriting draw on her experiences as an autistic woman, her position as an intersectional feminist and inspiration from Irish mythology.
“How I write, how I perform, and who I am as an artist is of course tied to being an autistic woman – I’d nearly given up music so many times, because it always felt like I didn’t quite fit – but I know now more than ever how important it is to be here, to be visible, to take a seat at the table – and to do it on your own terms”.
