Electric Picnic 2011 wraps up
Three great days of music and chat have drawn to a close in Stradbally
Sunday night saw the end of another fantastic Electric Picnic and it certainly closed in style, as huge crowds gathered to watch the newly-reunited Pulp run through all their hits. We had 'Razzmatazz', 'Sorted For Es and Whizz' and, of course, 'Common People'. We also had Jarvis dancing about on a speaker, which was great. It wasn't only happening on the main stage, however, as Mogwai blew everyone assembled in the Electric Arena away.
This came only a few hours after Stuart Braithwaite had joined us in the Hot Press Chat Room, and he wasn't the only big musical name who called in.
The last minute addition of The Family Stone to the Chat Room turned out to be something of an event, as our own Celina Murphy talked to the funk royalty about their glittering career. Earlier in the day Joan As Police Woman stopped by for a chat, as did White Lies, whilst the likes of The Mighty Stef and O Emperor treated us to a couple of great tunes in between the talk. It all wrapped up with a visit from Zach Condon, the man behind Beirut, who had gone down a storm on the Main Stage.
It was a nice closing note to a fantastic three days in the Chat Room, which gave us memorable moments with Gavin Friday, The Rubberbandits and a phenomenal surprise appearance from the one and only Chuck D.
Thanks to everyone who stopped by over the weekend, and keep on eye on hotpress.com over the coming days for full video and galleries of many of the appearances. There's a lot to relive.
