Edge: U2's Irish Shows Will Be Extra Special
The new Hot Press (out now) is a Special Collectors’ Edition looking forward to the touchdown of U2’s Songs Of iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE tour in Belfast and Dublin.
Among the numerous U2-related goodies is a world exclusive interview with Edge in which he enthuses, “We want to make those shows very special!”
The reconfiguring of the iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE stage production for the 3Arena, Edge says, means that Dublin fans are in for some serious sensory overload.
“It’s going to be a very exciting few shows, because the songs, the production - they’re jammed-in there,” he proffers. “We’re putting on a production designed for a much bigger house than the 3Arena. I’m sure it’s gonna lift the roof off with the energy and concentration.”
Edge reckons that there will be a few tears shed on stage: “That’s the thing about these songs, they’re so personal, and we as a band… I think a lot of our fans are very moved at our shows – but what they might not realise is that the band are, too.”
