Drown Your Heart Again
Another UK band makes a decent fist of sounding like Arcade Fire
What is it with British bands at the moment? I’m not sure whether it’s related to the unrelenting onslaught of nu-Thatcherism or it’s a kickback to the skeletal and soulless arrangements of modern pop tunes, but they seem to be taking their cues from Canadian acts like The Dears and making swelling, majestic albums that are as far removed from their background as you can get. TSDOLE are one such group, and their debut is a rousing mix of interesting orchestration, Win Butler-influenced hooks and confessional lyrics. While not exactly original, the impassioned and emotive vocals of Adam Woolway could get a reaction from even the most stoic N-Dubz fan and ‘Rising Sea’ especially is destined for greatness (and by “greatness” we mean it’ll probably soundtrack the closing moments of this year’s I’m a Celebrity).
Key Track: ‘Rising Sea’
