Don’t Look Behind You
Don’t Look Behind You.
You’ve got to hand it to former Humanzi drummer Brian Gallagher, who makes a roaring success of this debut solo effort.
Written between Berlin and Dublin (and under the influence of becoming a dad for the first time), Don’t Look Behind You is a highly engaging affair.
Brian’s vocal style recalls Blur, New Order, The Beatles and Elliot Smith by turns. For all that, it’s clear he’s very much his own man. The real strength of Don’t Look Behind You is in its variety. ‘Ode to Nowhere’ is a solid ‘cowboy’ song while ‘Living Is For Dreaming’ is a Supergrass-influenced radio rocker. Move aside Conor O’Brien and Cathy Davey. There’s a new gunslinger in town.
