Don't Be A Stranger
Icelandic duo craft a summer-pop tour de force
History tells us that it’s no easy task blending jazz, electro, good old-fashioned lounge music and outsider pop. Countless acts have tried to pull it off, but few succeed in creating anything more lasting than a few throwaway novelty songs. Don’t Be A Stranger by Icelandic duo Feldberg bucks this trend with glee and their debut is a summery tour de force that never once sounds trite or tiresome. ‘Dreamin’ – a call and response future pop anthem that is sure to crack the mainstream – is the undisputed album highlight, but ‘You & Me’ – a sugar-sweet love song that doesn’t overcook the cutesiness – follows closely behind. Fans of FM Belfast and the ‘90s legends St. Etienne will no doubt adore all 10 tracks on offer.
