Do You Like Smack Rock
Birthday party-ish dirty buggers
Pig’s second record Do You Like Smack Rock is a bit of a dirty beast. Recorded with the sole intention of “breaking down barriers between society so that all people can relax, take their clothes off and fuck” (we’re assuming that they do indeed kiss their mothers with that mouth) the 10 tunes deal with sexual submissiveness, outer body experiences and everything in between. It’s hard not to hear the influence of the Birthday Party on songs like ‘Sex Worker’ and ‘I Can See Evil,’ but that’s no bad thing as we’ve been yearning to discover a new band who can freak us out with takes of booze, birds and wickedness for ages. While they may be wilfully obtuse and artsy until the bitter end, Pig never forget that the whole point of being in a band is to make memorable tunes and Do You Like Smack Rock has this in spades.
Key Track: ‘Pigeon’
