Death Cab for Cutie unveil 20th anniversary reissue of The Photo Album

Two decades after its original release, Death Cab for Cutie is revisiting their 2001 release The Photo Album.

The alternative rock group's third album was originally released in October 2001 by Seattle indie record label Barsuk. The remastered re-release will contain 35 tracks - 25 more than the original release - ranging from unreleased songs to a cover of Björk’s ‘All Is Full of Love’.

The Photo Album saw the release of the band’s first charting single, ‘A Movie Script Ending’. The song would also end up being the first to be featured on the teen drama The O.C. The show would go on to use a number of the outfit’s tracks and was instrumental to the Death Cab for Cutie's success.

The noughties sensation started off as a solo project from guitarist Ben Gibbard, eventually transitioning into a full group after getting a record deal. The band was formed in Bellingham, Washington in 1997 and became a mainstay of the Seattle alt-rock circuit.

While The Photo Album grew the popularity of the group in the indie scene, it wasn’t until their 2003 record Transatlanticism that the group saw mainstream success. The group's follow-up release Plans, published by a major record label, went platinum.

The Photo Album Deluxe Reissue will release October 29 on digital platforms, while vinyl will arrive in spring 2022.
