David Mansfield on Bob Dylan: "You once joked that you should charge my parents for college tuition. I agree, and still owe you"
As part of our 'Bob Dylan at 80' special feature, David Mansfield shares his reflections on the influence and impact of the iconic singer-songwriter.
David Mansfield
"Happy 80th, Bob. So glad I didn’t know your work as intimately 46 years ago as I do now, I would have been way too intimidated to get onstage every night and play. You once joked that you should charge my parents for college tuition. I agree, and still owe you."
- At age 18, David Mansfield joined Bob Dylan's band for four years, starting with the Rolling Thunder Revue. He recorded three albums with Dylan and appears on numerous compilations and live albums.
