Bob Dylan replaces long-time guitarists mid-tour
Doug Lansio had been playing with Dylan since 2021, while Bob Britt had been his acoustic guitar player since 2019.
Bob Dylan has apparently replaced his guitarists amid his current US tour.
On Saturday, Bob Britt, who had been Dylan’s acoustic guitar player since 2019, shared a post to social media reading “Sayonara Bobby: and featuring an image of a plane from Austin to Nashville. He also responded to a fan’s comment by writing “I quit.”
The social media post has since been deleted.
This apparent departure comes after electric guitarist Doug Lansio, who had been a member of Dylan’s band since 2021, also left quietly.
His absence was first pointed out by the Los Angeles Times following Dylan’s show on June 17 in Santa Barbara. He was replaced by Grammy nominated jazz guitarist Julian Lage for this gig and every following date, although he has not been confirmed as a permanent part of Dylan’s band.
The legendary musician has not commented on the guitarists’ departure.
Dylan is currently on a summer tour of the US which kicked off in June and is set to continue until August 1 in Nashville.
