Belfast music merchant David Holmes has exclusively revealed to hotpress.com that he's confirmed for the Ocean's 13 soundtrack, and in the process of writing the follow-up to David Holmes Presents The Free Association.
"It's very different to anything that I've ever done," is he describes his new solo record. "I've nearly finished the music so I've been writing lots of lyrics. I'm looking to work with someone local to sing, and my voice might even grace it."
However, he stresses that the album will still contain instrumental tracks. "It's about 50/50, but the album will have a real sound. It's not a collection of songs, which I've been guilty of in the past. Bow Down To The Exit Sign was like a mixtape for your friends. It had lots of different vocalists and ended up being 'rent-a-popstar', if I'm being honest. This one will be a cohesive piece of work, an entire sound."
While there's no confirmed release date, it's likely to be released next year.
Also in the pipeline is the follow-up to his much praised Ocean's 11 and Ocean's 12 soundtrack.
"I'm going to spend most of December in LA to do Ocean's 13. I get offered Hollywood soundtracks all the time, but I preserve the Ocean's sound for the set of films because there's only so many ways you can skin a cat and I don't want the sound to be diluted."
Meanwhile, David finds time to DJ alongside Primal Scream at the BudRising series of gigs, with his taking place at Anseo on November 11.
