Damon Albarn & Jamie Hewlett confirm Gorillaz return
Founders of the virtual band says they will return in 2016.
The last album we heard by 2D, Murdoc Niccals, Noodle and Russel Hobbs, the completely fictional, animated members of Gorillaz, was The Fall way back in 2011. We haven't heard much from them in the years since but now we have word that founders Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett are planning their return in 2016.
Albarn was the musical mastermind behind the project when it was conceived in the late 90s, with Hewlett providing the artwork for the animated group. The confirmation for the return of Gorillaz came in the wake of Hewlett posting a few images of band members to his Instagram page.
Albarn has had a pretty good year with his acclaimed album Everyday Robots, but there's definitely going to be a lot of hype for the return of one of his more quirky and beloved projects. Stay tuned for more news!
