Rumour has it that there will be some "big-name surprises" on this tour...
Cynthia Catania has had a pretty storied career in the music industry. Born in America, she cut her teeth singing in the basements of New Jersey and clubs of New York City. She moved to Los Angeles early on, "plunking out songs at open mics in Hollywood", and dropping off cassette tapes to record labels during the day.
When she met Dublin-born Annmarie Cullen, lightning struck. The two formed a band (cheekily called Saucy Monky), and began pouring all of their energy into writing together. Things tracked on a quick upward trajectory after TodayFM DJ Tom Dunne played their debut EP. They went on to chart in Ireland, and Hot Press editor Niall Stokes championed the work heavily. It was eventually revealed that the two were dating, and the band imploded with their breakup.
Catania and Cullen went on to perform in other bands and as solo artists, and Catania was even a guest contributor for Hot Press' sex column for the better part of a year. Now, years after of their initial success, Annmarie Cullen and Cynthia Catania will reunite to play the "3 Voices 3 Sets" tour across four dates in Ireland, along with Naimee Coleman, an Irish performer and star in her own right. This not-to-be-missed event promises surprise guests and an extra special evening.
3 Voices 3 Sets tour:
March 26, Central Arts Waterford
March 27, Workman’s Club Dublin
April 2, Spirit Store Dundalk
April 3, Roisin Dubh Galway
Catania will play Empire Music Hall with The Young Dubliners on March 23rd.
