Could Glastonbury be on the move in 2018?
Festival head honcho Michael Eavis has teased of "something special" planned for 2018
Glastonbury don Michael Eavis has hinted that the festival may be on the move in 2018.
The Worthy Farm extravaganza typically takes a year's break every five year – in order to allow the farm to recover – but the boss has hinted that the planned fallow year in 2018 may instead see "something special" – likely occurring away from its spiritual home.
"I have never really considered retiring because I would miss the festival too much," he told the Bristol Post. "That is why I don't really want to have a year without a festival. At my age I want to enjoy as many festivals as I possibly can.
"I am getting too old and I don't want to miss out on any festivals."
Since beginning as the Pilton Pop, Blues & Folk Festival, a 1,500 capacity gathering in 1970, the festival has always taken place on Worthy Farm, which now welcomes 177,500 every year.
This June's event will see Muse, Coldplay and Adele headlining.
