Chvrches' Lauren Mayberry announces debut single 'Are You Awake?'

Chvrches lead singer Lauren Mayberry has announced her debut single ‘Are You Awake?’ will arrive on 1 September.

On social media last night, the Scottish songwriter said that fans who pre-save the upcoming track will unlock a preview snippet.

In the accompanying video, Mayberry said she was “flip-flopping between excitement and abject terror.”

She shared the news of her solo career last month, describing the venture as a “fun, freaky, sad, weird joyful pop playground”. She also announced a set of headline shows in the UK,US and Europe this autumn.

Fellow bandmember Iain Cook has also recently embarked on a side project, teaming up with Scott Paterson of Sons & Daughters to form Protection.

Chvurches released a single titled ‘Over’ last February. It was the first release from the trio since their 2021 album Screen Violence.
