A tender, bruised guitar ballad that‘ll devastate you as soon as look at you, ?Broken‘ adds ?big softie? to Jake Bugg‘s repertoire of musical personas, along with old record-shifters like ?rootin‘ tootin‘ country revivalist? and ?disgruntled alt. rock rebel?. But, alas, this is where I must park my trademark cynicism for a spell, as ?Broken‘ is a wonderfully delivered heartbreaker and, quite simply, Bugg‘s loveliest moment to date.
