Brightest Lights
Marvelously-haired Londoner King Charles has managed to scare up a whole lot of hype this year, and without the help of BBC Sound Of... polls or Brit Critics’ Choice awards... granted, it probably has something to do with being mates with folk superstars Mumford & Sons. In spite of the celebrity connection, the epic-but-lifeless ‘Brightest Lights’ is not the best introduction to this intriguing songwriter, who looks like he just waltzed out of the 17th Century; better look to ‘Love Lust’ or the anthemic ‘Lady Percy’ for a real insight into the King’s talents.
