Bright Lights
It seems like I’m forever giving misguided pop princess Pixie Lott a hard time, when really, I think the 21-year-old’s got a perfectly pleasant voice. My beef’s really with the lady or gentleman in charge of picking her songs, who clearly sees nothing wrong in providing her with tuneless leftovers from sessions with her label’s more established stars. ‘Bright Lights’ carries one of the strongest melodies that Lott’s been fortunate enough to wrap her pipes around, but there’s just one problem; the track belongs to groan-worthy pseudo rapper Tinchy Stryder, not her. Let me be frank; a song that references grilled chicken franchise Nando’s (in a shameless attempt to acquire something called a Black wings for the rest of his days) is not now and will never be okay.
