Brendan McCahey crowned 'The Voice Of Ireland'
A triumph for Team Bressie as the Cavan man performed 'You Can't Judge A Book By The Cover'.
Brendan McCahey has been named winner of this series of The Voice Of Ireland.
In a live finale on RTÉ One last night (Sunday April 27), the 37-year-old fended off competition from runner-up Kellie Lewis, as Laura May Lenehan and Jamie Stanton took the third and fourth spots.
He's been the judges' favourite all series –the only contestant to earn '10s' throughout – and his take on Bo Diddley's 'You Can't Judge A Book By The Cover' (recently made popular once more by The Strypes) won the public over.
The full-time dad and weekend wedding band performer will now be given a Universal Music recording contract and will no doubt work closely with Bressie on his future career. Bressie was also the winning coach for the first season of The Voice Of Ireland, steering Pat Byrne to victory in 2012.
Despite the underwhelming performance of Byrne's debut album, he continues to work with the artist on forthcoming material. He commented to McCahey: "You're ready to record an album, you're that good."
