A casting note for the project has revealed that the musical will be directed by Tony Award winner Julie Taymor, who was also at the helm for Lion King.
Bono and The Edge are cited as responsible for the music - however different reports suggest that they're still in negotiations for the production, which goes into its rehearsal stage in July.
The news comes a day after the world premiere of Spiderman 3 in Tokyo, whose soundtrack features Snow Patrol and Limerick band The Wasted Youth Orchestra.
