Bono's cinematic homage to The Beatles Across The Universe is due to hit America later this month
Bono hits the big screen again on September 14 when the Beatles-inspired Across The Universe premieres in the States.
Penned by Commitments duo Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais, it’s described as “a love story set against the backdrop of the 1960s” and weaves the lyrics of 30 Fab Four classics into the plot.
Bono cameos as Dr. Robert, a hippy shaman who gets to perform ‘I Am The Walrus’ and ‘Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds’ accompanied by Dallas shoegazers Secret Machines.
Both feature on the accompanying soundtrack album, which also boasts the talents of Joe Cocker and Eddie Izzard who takes care of ringmaster duties on ‘The Benefit Of Mr. Kite’.
With Hollywood A-Listers Jim Sturgess, Evan Rachel Wood, Joe Anderson, Dana Fuchs and Salma Hayek also on board, its box-office potential is immense.
