Bono and Andrea Corr lead all-star CD
As revealed earlier in the year, Bono, Andrea Corr and Gavin Friday are among the artists contributing to the CD Rogue's Gallery: Pirate Ballads, Sea Songs & Chanteys.
Due on August 22, the idea for the 43-song collection was dreamt up by director Gore Verbinski and actor Johnny Depp while they were filming Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest.
“I slowly became fascinated by the idea of a contemporary reinterpretation of the sea chantey,” explains Verbinski. “I imagined the artists that I listen to and respect doing their take on this age-old music.
Produced by legendary American knob-twiddler Hal Willner, the 2-CD package also features the A-List likes of Nick Cave, Bryan Ferry, Sting, Rufus Wainwright, Van Dyke Parks, Jarvis Cocker and Lou Reed.
