Bloody hell!
Noted party fancier Andrew WK gets up the noses of the British Advertising Standards Authority. Someone get that man a hanky for chrissake
Andrew WK has been censured by the British Advertising Standards Authority who, following complaints, have ruled that the cover of his I Get Wet album is "likely to cause serious or widespread offence, especially because it would be seen by children and vulnerable people."
While hinting that they will sticker the shot of WK with a nosebleed, Universal Records have strenuously denied that it's meant to imply cocaine use.
It's not the first time the American has shed blood, though, with WK talking about his predilection for self-harm in the current issue of Hot Press.
Meanwhile, his Brat Tour co-conspirators the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club have given us their musical predictions for 2002.
"We're hoping for great things for everyone this year," says Peter Hayes. "Bands like ourselves, The Strokes, The Warlocks, The View, Voyager One, The Stratford Four, Tycobb… everybody's scraping away hoping to break out. There's a new spirit among those bands, kind of back to basics. It's definitely a reaction to what's going on in the mainstream.
"Right now we're looking forward to coming over to Europe. We've never been before, so it's a big thing for us."
Irish fans can check them, Andrew WK, Lostprophets and The Coral out on January 26th when they descend on the Dublin Ambassador.
