BLARING CLUB TUNES FROM ENGLISH DANCE PRODUCER 

The third solo album from Daniel Stein, aka DJ Fresh – a one-time member of drum and bass supergroup Bad Company – is big on thumping party numbers, hold the subtlety. The basic template is pounding club tunes, full of blaring electro rhythms and pulverising beats. Dubstep also features prominently, such as on the pulsating ‘Skyhighatrist’’ (featuring Rizzle Kicks) and the moodier ‘The Edge’. The relentless barrage of beats does become a bit wearying after a while, which is a shame, as when Stein does venture out into other territory – such as on the disco-inflected ‘The Power’, featuring Dizzee Rascal – the results are impressive.
