Black Country Communion: Afterglow
Classic rock super-group make heroic new album.
Afterglow is the third full-length offering from bona fide rock behemoths Black Country Communion and sees the super-group, who comprise former Deep Purple singer Glenn Hughes, much-celebrated guitar virtuoso Joe Bonamassa, former Dream Theater keyboardist Derek Sherinian and drummer Jason Bonham (Foreigner, UFO and Led Zeppelin), deliver a suitably loud and proud call to arms. The likes of ‘Confessor’ and album opener ‘Big Train’ are monstrous tracks that will no doubt inspire many a fan to whip out their tennis rackets and air riff along, while ‘Cry Freedom’ boasts a brilliant duet between Hughes and Bonamassa and is infused with a bluesy swagger that features all the best bits of Free and AC/DC over the course of four minutes. Classic rock aficionados should check it out ASAP.
