Dublin duo Belters Only look ahead to their triumphant return to Longitude next month.
At the time of our conversation, Belters Only's RobbieG and Bissett are once again seeing the fruits of their labour defying the odds on the charts on both sides of the Irish Sea.
The Dublin production duo – whose hit single 'Make Me Feel Good' proved to be one of the biggest songs of 2022 in Ireland and UK – once again worked have magic with their close collaborator Jazzy. Her debut solo single 'Giving Me', written and produced by Belters Only, scored three consecutive weeks at the top of the Official Irish Singles Chart, and is currently occupying the No.3 spot in UK.
It marks the beginning of “another huge year” for both acts, Robbie states.
That includes an action-packed summer, featuring Ibiza appearances and a hugely anticipated set at Longitude 2023 – with a major show planned for this year's edition of the Dublin festival.
“The energy was unbelievable,” Robbie says of their set at Longitude 2022. “I don’t think I’ve ever in my life – even from going to all the festivals – seen consistent energy like that in a crowd. It was madness. I said last year, ‘I’m sure you could’ve felt something on the Richter scale after that set!’ So this year we’re absolutely buzzing for it, especially off the back of that show.”
“MK’s a legend,” Bissett remarks. “He reached out to us to do a remix of the Jazzy tune as well. I think he’s going to be playing that all year!”
“Hopefully,” Robbie nods. “He’s good friends with Sonny Fodera as well – and we've been in the studio with Sonny, and worked with him.”
As Bissett notes, it’s “probably only a matter of time” before they jump into the studio with MK too – with Robbie crossing his fingers for a collaboration this year. What about Calvin Harris?
“Calvin’s the goal for us,” Robbie reveals. “But it’s madness, we only said last year that it would have been a dream to have Sonny, MK and Calvin onto us. And now Calvin’s commenting on Jazzy’s stuff, which is absolutely surreal. Even them contacting us, and acknowledging us, is a dream come true in itself.”
Belters Only play Longitude on Saturday, July 1.
