Baby Come Home
‘I’m too cool to lose my control/You’re too cool to call.’ It could easily be the tortured epigram accompanying an ambiguous Tumblr photograph (most likely of a girl with very long hair gazing dreamily through a rain-drizzled windowpane), but no, it’s one of the many deliciously uncertain lines bellowed out by Jake Shears in ‘Baby Come Home’, the third single taken from Scissor Sisters’ club-hopping album Magic Work. The track itself is wickedly brassy and catchy as anything in the SS back catalogue, all the while perfectly capturing that godawful feeling of knowing that you actually do give a fuck about your fuck buddy.
