Audrey Bridgeman releases new single 'Not Around'
The singer and percussionist continues her release streak with a funk-rock track.
Audrey Bridgeman has returned with her new single 'Not Around'.
This marks the singer's fourth single of 2025 so far, following the releases of 'Song Bird', 'Climate Change' and 'Till The End' earlier this year, with 'Song Bird' receiving a Special Mention Award from the UK Songwriting Contest.
'Not Around' features Bridgeman on vocals, drums and percussion, Gerry Hendrick on guitar and bass; and Salvatore Urbano on keys. Both she and Hendrick hold songwriting credits on 'Not Around' and the two are long-time collaborators.
"As a drummer and percussionist, this song represents a return to my roots and is inspired by the music I first listened to – Prince, Sly and the Family Stone, Chaka Khan and Rufus, Sheila E and The Average White Band," said the 'Brighter Future' singer. "I think a knowledge of drumming adds a great dimension to a singer’s vocal style and approach. Gerry produced the track and really allowed me to be free and showcase my percussion and drumming in a way that I haven’t explored before."
Much of the Dublin singer's music takes inspiration from Afro-Cuban influences, as she previously studied in Havana alongside Cuba's percussion virtuosos. She began playing drums and piano from a young age, under instruction from her late father, drummer Noel Bridgeman of Skid Row.
