Annie Dog - On Our Radar Q&A: "I love listening to music, and I guess you want to create things that you love"

Can you explain how you chose your stage name?

It’s a Smashing Pumpkins song and they were my favourite band growing up. They’re still one of my favourite bands.

Who are your favourite artists right now?

Let me look at my Spotify playlist! Oklou, do you know her? I’m actually listening to The B-52s a lot lately, I like their older stuff. I heard ‘Give Me Back My Man’ yesterday and was just obsessed, so there’s a bit of a deep dive happening now.

What inspires you to make music?

I’m not sure. I love listening to music, and I guess you want to create things that you love. So long as I enjoy it, I suppose I’ll keep doing it.

Is there a track off your new EP that’s most special to you?

I really like ‘Please Forgive Me, David Gray’ – because I’m a fan of his song ‘Please Forgive Me’. It’s a great track, one of my favourites, so covering it was fun.

Do you have upcoming plans for a tour?

I’m playing SXSW in Texas and I’m going to be playing Forbidden Fruit this year. I have stuff in the works, but nothing concrete that I could share right now!
