...And Then We Saw Land
Sweet but slight return from UK folktronica crew
Acclaimed British folktronica outfit Tunng are a bit like what a trimmed down version of the cast of Glee might sound like after spending their summer holidays backpacking around Europe in order to ‘find’ themselves. It’s all nice enough (‘Don’t Look Down Or Back,’ ‘With Whiskey’) - but is ultimately pretty forgettable. Their use of odd instruments and hushed boy/girl vocals work in places (‘Hustle,’ ‘October’). But after 40-plus minutes of the same tempo and tone, it loses all impact.
