An airplane carried me to bed
NASAL, TWEE, ThOROUGHLY UNAPPEALING TRIPE
The brainchild of Adam 'Owl City'Young, Sky Sailing’s debut album features songs he had written before the anthem for soccer moms 'Fireflies’. Well, in the words of the synth-loving starry-eyed romantic, this is “the documented account of a shy boy from Minnesota with more hopes and dreams than he knew what to do with.” I’m sure it is. But, good intentions notwithstanding, this record is as twee as a Bis concert in a Tupperware shop. His nasal, Postal Service-like voice is as grating as ever to these ears and tracks such as 'Steady As She Goes'are overly sentimental. Lots of people may love it – but, I’m sorry, not me.
