Alien Radio
Slam certainly don’t believe in rushing into things; releasing just six EPs over the course of a ten-year long recording career, it’s been half a decade since their predominantly down tempo debut album, Headstates.
Slam certainly don’t believe in rushing into things; releasing just six EPs over the course of a ten-year long recording career, it’s been half a decade since their predominantly down tempo debut album, Headstates. In the interim, so many developments have taken place – drum’n’bass, 2 step, disco-house, tech-house, take your pick, but Orde and Stuart have refused to jump the bandwagon marked ‘filthy lucre’. Alien Radio is testament to their belief and passion for deep techno and jacking, funky house. That’s not to suggest Slam are stuck in a rut; there’s the cinematic electro of the title track and the mellow dub of ‘Visions’ which features Dot Allison on vocals. However, if you want to catch the true spirit of Slam, it’s still out on the dance floor, on cuts like the Motor City meets Chi Town brooding grooves of ‘Eyes Of Your Soul’ and ‘Bass Addiction’. A great second album that has been well worth the wait.
