Mineral, the band comprising of former Power Of Dreams man Craig Walker and three Parisian musical allies, have their Plastic Ekphrastic album released on October 28 by 359 Music, the label set up by Alan McGee in conjunction with Cherry Red Records.
Preceded next month by single ‘Serial Monkey’ – you’ll be able to bag it digitally and on 7” – it will also include the epic 13-minute ‘Atoms’ and possibly their very different take on My Bloody Valentine’s ‘When You Sleep’.
Also due from 359 – whose motto is “Bang Yer Own Drum” – are debuts by John Lennon McCullagh, a Doncaster 15-year-old who makes Jake Bugg look positively arthritic, and The Grants’ former leader Chris Grant.
“We got lucky with our first batch of signings, all three acts have balls and gravitas and, as I said when we started the label, we are a launch pad for new and ignored talent,” McGee enthuses. “It's also been a blast so far working with the acts and Cherry Red… onwards!”
Hopefully the imprint will turn out to be more of a Creation than a Poptones!
