West Cork songwriters Victoria and Aine came together to write 'The Poor Ground' back in March 2017, after the bodies of 796 babies and children were found in a septic tank on the grounds of the Bon Secours Mother & Baby Home in Tuam.
With the sobering release of the report into the Mother and Baby Homes this week, 'The Poor Ground' is especially relevant and emotional track from Aine O'Gorman and Victoria Keating.
Victoria and Aine recorded 'The Poor Ground' with the very talented Martin Leahy, and released the video on social media on Monday - garnering a poignant reaction.
Keating has worked with Christy Moore extensively since 2011, providing harmony vocals on five of his full-length albums. The musician has also provided harmonies on Declan Sinnott’s second solo album, and has toured extensively with both Christy Declan - playing sold out venues such as The Acoustic stage, Glastonbury and Vicar Street Dublin. Folk artist O'Gorman released her gorgeous debut single 'Lydia' back in 2019.
Keating is building a loyal fanbase on her weekly show ‘Little Rooms, Big Music’ and is currently recording her first album of original material with Sinnott and Leahy.
It's beautiful, horrific...the beauty holds me there as the horror unfolds," Christy Moore said of the emotional track 'The Poor Ground'. "I love the way it builds from heartbeat to symphony. The harmonies are awesome - it's a tour de force."
