Five Dublin winners celebrated at Irish Food & Hospitality Awards

Five Dublin establishments were celebrated at the annual Georgina Campbell Irish Food & Hospitality Awards.

The awards recognise excellence across the country, with an anonymous team selecting winners through independent, year-round assessments.

Businesses can't enter themselves, ensuring the awards remain focused on genuine quality and hospitality. This year, 54 businesses were chosen for citation. The winners were announced on September 23 at a gala lunch at the InterContinental Dublin Hotel.

"There are never enough awards as far as I'm concerned," Campbell said during the ceremony.

"In many places we visited, we could see how warm human interaction is being replaced by cold digital transactions," she continued, highlighting a threat to the personal connection associated with Irish hospitality.

"The very qualities that once defined good hospitality, such as knowing a guest's name, offering a cup of tea, or simply taking the time to have a conversation, are becoming less common."

Her sentiments were mirrored by At Your Service's Francis Brennan, speaking on a panel alongside Campbell and PJ Rigney of Drumshanbo Irish gin and The Shed Distillery in Co. Leitrim.

"When I read about automatic check-in desks and AI bots, my blood runs cold," Brennan said. "I fear that the art of hospitality and creating genuine connections is fading."
