A Chorus Of Storytellers
another day in the poptronica iso-cube.
Five albums in and it’s pretty much more of the same for The Album Leaf. As one of the standard bearers of the ‘poptronica’ movement, releasing another record that doesn’t really go anywhere simply isn’t good enough. Mainman James Lavelle makes pleasant music, but it doesn’t engage the listener the way it should. While the use of the mashed-up voices of chattering children during ‘Perro’ and the dreamy soundscapes of ‘Almost There’ are finely crafted, there’s no heart in among all the wires and technology, making A Chorus Of Storytellers a pretty forgettable experience.
