As a longtime worshipper at the altar of Diana Ross and proud graduate of the BA in Groove Studies programme at Gibb University (I made my own certificate in Photoshop with glitter balls where the Os should be…), I admit I can be a tad precious when it comes to Disco. '99' is the Loose's most authentically disco tune to date, so I'm delighted to find that it hits every single nail on its noggin, from the morse code bass line to the lyrical cheek ("I apologise if it's cliché to compare her love to an ice cream cone"). Now if only I could get a few more signatures on my petition to bring back Soul Train…
