"I think he's alright, man"
Liam Gallagher, no stranger to the perils of speaking one's mind slightly more loudly than is helpful on occasion, has come out in support of Roy Keane. "Passion brings out words like that," says our kid. "He's got balls"
Yesterday found Liam Gallagher switching into Eamon Dunphy mode and defending Roy Keane.
Talking exclusively to hotpress.com, the Oasis mainman said, "I think he's got every right. He's the captain and a captain has a say. I think Mick McCarthy's a bit of a knob and all.
"They're fucking both grown men. If you can't call someone 'a cunt' and let it go…y'know, 'a cunt' is not the end of the world. Passion brings out words like that. He's right. Mick McCarthy should've said, 'Right, I'm a cunt, but chill out man, I'm the fucking manager.' That's what it should've been. But saying that, you're a professional, and maybe he should've sorted it out.
"But I think he's alright, man. He's going, 'I want to walk round Cork and hold me head up high.' He's got balls, man."
Are there are parallels with Oasis?
"I think so," he agrees. "Passion brings up these words. I've called our kid 'cunt' plenty of times and he's called me 'a cunt'."
There are more pearls of wisdom from the boy Gallagher in the next issue of Hot Press. Just as well really, seeing as he's on the cover!
