Like a cross between Derrick May and Kraftwerk, ‘Heures’ may not sound original, but these electronic compositions offer sweet relief from the funky grind of tracks like ‘Hasard’.
To be honest, I wasn’t convinced about French techno producer Oxia’s decision to release a CD. He made his name with a distinctively ’80s-themed version of techno-funk that’s effective on the dance floor but is pointless listening to out of this context. Happily, he’s also realised the futility of putting out a dance floor based album and 24 Heures explores his love of deep space electro and cinematic soundtracks. Like a cross between Derrick May and Kraftwerk, ‘Heures’ may not sound original, but these electronic compositions offer sweet relief from the funky grind of tracks like ‘Hasard’.
