21 Bends
Assured second album from dublin singer Scott Maher rises above its short-comings and is pretty special indeed.
After just one listen to Scott Maher’s sophomore effort 21 Bends, it’s pretty obvious why the Yanks are so in love with the Dublin-based singer. Choc-full of delicate melodies, daring lyrics and delightful guitar-playing, this record should find favour with fans of the Finn Brothers, and there’s a definite transatlantic feel to the music throughout. It mightn’t be the coolest album you’ll ever own and some of the songs (eg. ‘Shine’) sound a little dusty and old-fashioned, but for the most part, 21 Bends rises above its short-comings and is pretty special indeed.
