Over the coming days, as we move closer to an historic opportunity for the people of Ireland to get rid of an archaic part of the Constitution, we'll be sharing the words of singers, artists, filmmakers, authors and more, who are urging people to vote for Repeal.

I just want to send some love out to those who’ve had an abortion. I’m with you. I always was. It has changed your life – you made the right choice. I want you to feel loved and embraced and thankful when we finally rid ourselves of the bullshit. We can then have a vital commonplace procedure in our home country, where the only judgement is for the standard of safety. Onwards. Feel love.

May 25 is creeping closer and closer. We’re voting Yes, because we believe that women should have the right to make decisions about their own bodies for themselves. Yes, because women shouldn’t have to feel the shame and embarrassment that they are made to feel, when they have to travel abroad to receive healthcare. Yes, because – like in 2015 – we want to be on the right side of history.

As an Irish citizen living in England for the past 10 years, I’m unable to vote in the forthcoming referendum, but I’m proud to add my voice to so many others calling for the repeal of the 8th Amendment, and I wholeheartedly urge all those who do have a vote to exercise it by voting Yes for fairness, tolerance and a more just society.

If you are voting No in this referendum, you won’t stop women having abortions – you’re stopping them doing it safely, legally and compassionately. Abortion pills are available in Dublin, on campuses or through somebody you know. It’s happening! No woman has an abortion lightly. It should be a choice. If you don’t agree with abortion, you shouldn’t get one yourself, but the choice should be there for other people regardless of your opinion. This is one for future and younger generations and the progressive Ireland that we live in now. It’s about thinking what’s best for those to come.

Singer & Comic
We fought for the right to our own reproductive status, we deserve the right to decide what happens to our bodies full stop. This is about the right to privacy and reproductive control. I have never met a pro-choice campaigner that is pro-abortion; if you don’t want an abortion, don’t have one. Otherwise, let me decide for myself.
56. Dave Rudden
Author
I’m voting Yes to repealing the 8th Amendment. I’m voting Yes because I trust women. I’m voting Yes because, as someone who won’t have to face the decision to have an abortion, I want that decision in the hands of those who do. I’m voting Yes so that if that decision is in my future, my partner won’t be denied access to the healthcare she needs. I’m voting Yes because of the personal experiences people have been brave enough to share, but also because of the overwhelming endorsements of medical professionals and the simple fact that Irish people are having abortions – they’re just doing so in secret and dangerous conditions, or alone and away from their families, and they deserve to be cared for at home.

I fully support the Repeal movement on every level and find it hard to believe that this conversation is still going on. I believe that women should have 100% say over their own bodies and choices. It seems to me that the majority of the No campaign is made up of people who are the least affected by it, so the mind boggles. All my friends and family support Repeal and are in favour of a more progressive society.

This is to express my support for a Yes vote in the upcoming referendum. Women should be able to have full control over what happens to their bodies.

We’ll be voting Yes for choice, Yes to trusting women, Yes to supporting women. We’d encourage everyone to get informed and to get out and vote Yes on the day.

We will be voting Yes to repeal the 8th Amendment, because we believe that women should have the right to make their own choices when it comes to their bodies. We support without judgement the women of Ireland in practising their right to choose no matter what their circumstance. Jessica & Cormac
