Canada Legalises Recreational Marijuana

Canada has made history by becoming the first G-20 country to legalise cannabis.

Canadians above the age of 18, or 19 in some specific provinces, could be legally allowed to purchase marijuana from as early as September after their government approved an historic Bill to make the drug legal.

The Cannabis Act bill, which regulates how the drug can be grown, distributed, and sold, was passed into law yesterday with 52-29 voting in favour in the Senate.

Taking to Twitter to celebrate the news, their Prime Minister Justin Trudeau tweeted: "It’s been too easy for our kids to get marijuana - and for criminals to reap the profits. Today, we change that. Our plan to legalize & regulate marijuana just passed the Senate."
