Weaver Park
Weaver Park
128 Cork St, Dublin
Officially opened in September last year, after tireless campaigning by local community groups, Weaver Park features a playground and a skatepark as well as green open areas for multifunctional use. This is the first purpose-built park in the Liberties in over 100 years and has quickly become a much loved and frequented addition, in a part of the Liberties that is increasingly home to high rises. Built with both children and adolescents in mind, the space has a top of the range playground area and a skate bowl, for novice to expert skaters to perfect their craft. It also boasts a central green lawn that can be used for a variety of functions including markets and small events (as well as sunbathing!). Since its completion, the park has been nominated for a European Prize for Urban Public Space.
