U2 and David Beckham join Street Child United for short film to air during World Cup Final
While the full short won't be shown during the World Cup, a 30-second version will be broadcast across North America from July 13.
Street of Dreams is a new short film starring David Beckham and newcomer Neveah Derricks, set to a new U2 track of the same name.
The short film follows a young girl whose life has been upended through homeless, and her refusal to give up on her dream of playing soccer.
Per its synopsis: "After her life is disrupted, Calle (Neveah Derricks) is seen holding on to soccer as a source of purpose and possibility. As she navigates uncertainty and self-doubt, she is guided by David Beckham, who appears as a personification of her inner voice, a guardian only she can see.
Directed by award-winning creative duo "King She", Radha Ganti and Robert Lopuski, whose work has received more than 75 awards and nominations, including Cannes Lions recognition.
"The film is one girl's journey, but really the story is about resilience and what can happen when someone believes in you," said King She.
In this case, David Beckham appears as our young lead's inner voice. We wanted to tell that story in a way that felt almost mythical. Music, soccer and imagination blur together to create possibility."
"We had the opportunity to attend the 2026 Street Child World Cup in Mexico City back in May, and we came away with far more than we expected," added U2.
"As proud supporters of Street Child United, it was a privilege to be there in person to watch some great football, soak up the atmosphere and witness these extraordinary young athletes reminding everyone what talent looks like when it refuses to take no for an answer."
Street Child United is a UK-based NGO that uses sport - such as football and cricket - to advocate for the rights and protection of street-connected children globally.
