A brand for the modern shopper, COS play with structure and design to create timeless staples for any wardrobe. Their pieces are tailored for women, men, children - with a new baby line on the way - that aspire to dress for function and fashion.
Hot Press took a sneak peek at the all-new COS Spring Summer 2019 collection. All pieces from the collection will be available throughout the coming year, with the first launch hitting shops at the end of February.
The collection takes its inspiration from the elements. It embodies the effortless elegance of water and freshness of air. In turn, the textures and fabrics used for the pieces have a breezy quality about them, ideal for hot summer days (that seems far too distant now in this bitter winter).
The colour palette chosen echoes the air and water theme. It features a spectrum of blues -beautifully described as "ocean, indigo and midnight" - which is complemented by the lighter ("white, butter, and stone") and darker tones of the collection ("heather, storm grey, Bordeaux and deep brown").
Interestingly the women's collection mainly focuses on blues, while the men's features mauves and pink-toned pieces. It completely inverts gender stereotypes.
Each piece in the collection can be paired with another, a versatile approach to fashion. COS rarely distribute collections based on trends and fads. Instead, they opt for varying silhouettes and structures in their designs.
Hot Picks from the collection
A few pieces stood out in the collection.
One being an asymmetrical midi skirt in a vibrant blue. Pair with a simple shirt or clash with a bold pattern, either way a stunning piece.
COS release a different variation of their classic knit dress every year. This year they chose a full length column dress in stone. An essential piece in any wardrobe, understated and elegant.
Lastly, the new collection includes a V-neck midi dress in a storm grey. The structure of the dress contrasts the liquid quality of fabric. Such an interesting piece for now and years to come.
