Olympic Rugby Player Accepts Her Girlfriend's Wedding Proposal
Isadora Cerullo and Marjorie Enya have honour of first Rio marriage proposal
The first marriage proposal of the 2016 Olympics has been accepted, as Marjorie Enya proposed to her girlfriend, Brazilian rugby player Isadora Cerullo.
Following the medal ceremony for the women's rugby category, Enya, a manager at the stadium, gave an emotional speech and proposed in front of the crowd. Cerullo, her partner of two years, gladly accepted.
Speaking to the BBC, Enya said "She is the love of my life." She was confident the proposal would be received well by the crowd. "I know rugby people are amazing and they would embrace it."
Cerullo was born in North Carolina and holds dual citizenship with Brazil and the United States. The couple lives in Sao Paulo, where Cerullo has worked as part of the Brazilian Olympic rugby team. Although the Brazilian team only finished ninth overall, suffice to say at least one member of the squad has come away from the tournament very happy.
Enya stated "I wanted to show people that love wins."
