A place of historic and architectural significance, McHugh’s is situated in one of the oldest buildings in Belfast and is a bar/venue beloved by both locals and anyone else who finds themselves dandering into it off the renovated River Lagan front. For a long time the bar was notable mainly for good pints and its exciting history, but since being taken over by the Downeys Bar Group in 2011, the downstairs basement in McHugh’s has become one of the cosiest spots for a gig. The Shires, The Staves, Wyvern Lingo and more have played in the venue in recent months, with plenty more gigs to come in 2018.
