Liam Brady returns to primary school for fundraiser
The midfield maestro will close the fundraiser event at noon this Saturday.
Irish sporting legend Liam Brady will be appearing at his former primary school, Holy Child Boy’s N.S in Larkhill , as part of a fundraiser for a new state-of-the-art astro pitch this weekend.
The 24-hour ‘Staff Spinathon’ will take place across three venues, the Omni shopping centre, The Whitehall Colmcille Clubhouse and the school itself, in an effort to raise €75,000. Donations can be made here.
“Our school is teeming with aspiring athletes, passionate sports enthusiasts, and talented individuals who are eager to pursue their dreams on the field,” said organisers on the gofundme site.
“We are embarking on a mission to build an astro pitch that will foster talent and provide a safe, high-quality playing surface for athletes of all ages and skill levels.
“Together, we can create a lasting legacy that will benefit current and future generations.”
Alongside Brady, past pupils include All-Ireland winning Dublin captain Tommy Drumm and current Dublin senior footballer and All Ireland winner Lee Gannon.
Drumm will also be making an appearance at the event, opening proceedings at the school on Friday at 1pm.
Making 72 appearances for the Republic of Ireland and winning numerous titles across his tenures at Arsenal and Juventus, Liam Brady is among the greatest Irish soccer players of all time.
