Irish wrestler Becky Lynch defeats Ronda Rousey, becoming double champion at WrestleMania 35
The Dublin-raised wrestler became a double champion at WrestleMania 35 on Sunday night.
On Sunday night, Becky Lynch made history at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, by becoming the first unified WWE Women's Champion. The Irish wrestler beat both Rona Rousey and Charlotte Flair to come out on top in both the WWE Raw Women's Championship and the WWE SmackDown Women's Championship in WrestleMania 35.
Before the event, Lynch, who goes by the nickname 'The Man' took to Twitter to share a message with her fans.
Today is the day when The Man finally comes around to collect. Today is the day when you and me change how this business works, thinks and progresses. I. Am. Ready. For. This. Day. #WrestleMania #BeckyLynch pic.twitter.com/IykjuRHPON

Back in 2016, the Dublin-raised wrestler told Hot Press that her dreams were nearly dashed by an injury early in her career:
“When I got injured ten years ago, for a while at least, I thought that was the end of my dream. It was a pretty shocking thing to deal with as I was only 19 at the time. I ended up spending a few years doing jobs which offered me a fraction of the thrill that wrestling did. I acted, became a flight attendant, did stunt work – but nothing came close to the buzz I got from wrestling. Even though I was earning scraps wrestling on the independent circuit, I loved it.”
Born Rebecca Quin, Lynch began training as a professional wrestler in 2002. She became the inaugural SmackDown Women's champion at Backlash 2016 - a title she has since held three times.
Outside of wrestling, she has also done stunt work for Vikings, and graduated from D.I.T. with a B.A. in Acting.
